Dan began his career as a reporter and, later, an editor for weekly newspapers near Boston. After covering everything from zoning board meetings to murders, he left newspapers to become an associate editor at Offshore, a monthly recreational boating magazine. There, Dan participated in all aspects of editorial work – generating story ideas, working with writers and photographers, proofreading, writing feature articles, managing departments and more.

After several years at Offshore, Dan left the magazine to raise his newborn daughter (and, later, his son). While raising his children, Dan continued to stay active as a freelance writer and editor.

In addition to being a writer and editor, Dan is a certified personal trainer. He works with a variety of clients — from those looking to lose weight to others looking to tackle an obstacle race or ultramarathon.

Dan has completed several ultramarathons, including finishing second in the 2019 Peak Bloodroot 100, a grueling 100-mile race in the mountains of Vermont. Dan has also competed in some of the world’s most challenging obstacle and endurance races, including the 24-hour World’s Toughest Mudder, the Spartan Death Race, the Spartan UltraBeast, and many others.

Additionally, Dan enjoys traveling, whether it be road trips across New England or across the country, or travels to far flung corners of the world. Dan has visited such places as Vietnam, Egypt and the Czech Republic.
